Profil Wilayah

The history of Tanah Merah begins with a transmigration settlement area in the Samarinda City area, specifically in North Samarinda District, around 1975 the transmigration workers opened a settlement led by group leaders from several districts in the Central Java region. Then it became a hamlet or village which was previously led by the head of the transmigration group and then led by the hamlet head or village head. From 1975 to 2006 the Tanah Merah area was part of the Lempake Village area.

However, population development is increasing and the sub-district area is quite large, in order to be able to reach services to the community in 2006, Lempake sub-district was divided into two, namely Lempake sub-district as the main sub-district and Tanah Merah sub-district which is an expansion sub-district. On July 6 2006 the sub-district was inaugurated by the Mayor of Samarinda, Mr. Drs. Achmad Amins MM.

From 2006 until now, the development of the Tanah Merah sub-district has been rapid, where this area is a center for tourism, services, trade, agriculture and urban residential development in the city of Samarinda.
